A graduate of the UMass Medical School Graduate School of Nursing, Diana worked as registered nurse before going to graduate school and becoming an advanced practitioner. She decided to become a nurse practitioner so she could have a larger role in treating her patients. After working for a time as a hospitalist, Diana chose primary care because she is a big believer in preventative medicine and its role in maintaining good health. “In primary care you have the opportunity of forming close relationships with your patients,” she explains. “This helps build trust which I think is essential when making health-related decisions with patients.” Diana strives to provide culturally competent care to all her patients. Most of all, she enjoys coming to work each day and helping people. “It’s quite satisfying having patients thank me for lowering their blood pressure. Sometimes just seeing an improvement in lab results after recommending lifestyle changes for a patient can really make your day.” In her spare time Diana enjoys reading, hiking, dancing, watching movies, shopping and spending time with her family.
