Meet Dr. Sudarshan Kadirvelu

Dr. Sudarshan Kadirvelu feels lucky that he has fulfilled his dream of becoming a doctor and helping patients each day. “I come from a family that has a lot of doctors and it was something that I wanted to do from a young age,” he explains. “I do feel lucky that I am able to spend each day treating patients in the profession that I truly love.”

As an internist at Reliant Medical Group, Dr. Sudarshan Kadirvelu takes a lot of pride in emphasizing preventative medicine. “I think that’s where the majority of my time gets spent with patients. I was always very keen on preventative health and doing screenings for cancer – that’s one of the reasons why I became interested in primary care,” he explains.

Although he practices as an internist, Dr. Kadirvelu was originally trained in family medicine, and enjoys doing procedures such as skin biopsies, joint injections, and cryotherapy. “These are all things that I enjoy, along with treating patients with typical problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.”

Dr. Kadirvelu enjoys taking advantage of the latest technology when treating his patients. “There are tests that I am doing now that I didn’t even know about when I was in medical school. These newer tests and studies are really benefitting patients, especially for cardiovascular risk. That’s why I like to learn about new technologies and evolve them into my practice.”

When he is not busy with his patients, Dr. Kadirvelu enjoys reading books, playing tennis, and skiing in the wintertime. He and his wife also enjoy traveling throughout New England.
