Fallon Clinic Honors 2010 Annual Physician Award Recipients
WORCESTER, Mass., June 9, 2011 — Fallon Clinic, a large multi-specialty medical group practice in Central Massachusetts, honored the 2010 Annual Physician Award recipients and the 25- and 30-year service award recipients at an event May 17th at the Beechwood Hotel in Worcester.
The Physician of the Year is the most prestigious award and is given to the physician who has all the qualities of the finest physician in the Fallon Clinic group. Specifically, this individual should display excellent technical, clinical and teaching skills, compassion and caring for patients, excellent interpersonal skills with other physicians and staff, and the highest quality of care. The winner of this award is Dr. Ramana Murthy of Shrewsbury, an internist practicing in Auburn.
The Frederick J. McCready, MD Teacher of the Year Award, first given out in 1988, is given to a physician or team for excellence in teaching medical students, house staff and colleagues, and who possesses excellent technical, clinical and teaching skills. The winner of this award was the Division of Rheumatology, which includes Dr. Robert Yood of Worcester, Dr. Maria Abruzzo of Worcester, Dr. John Hosey of Shrewsbury, Dr. Julie Levengood of Westborough, Dr. John Reed of Wayland, and Dr. Alice Williams of Harvard.
Exemplary Contribution for Innovation Award is given to the physician responsible for the planning and implementation of the most effective and significant patient care innovation of the year. Such innovations can focus on service quality, clinical quality, or cost effectiveness. The winner of this award was Dr. Charles Mills of Worcester.
Dr. Peter Scheinfein of Boylston and Department Chair of Urgent Care received the Exemplary Contribution for Leadership Award, given to the physician manager who has best exemplified the trains of empowerment, communication skills and fairness, while promoting quality, service and fiscal discipline.
