Reliant Medical Group Selected to 11th annual Physician Group Honor Roll by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care for Fifth Time

Only Provider in Worcester County to Receive Honor “With Distinction”

WORCESTER, Mass., January 7, 2013 – Reliant Medical Group has been selected to Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s 11th annual Physician Group Honor Roll for the fifth time. Out of a 132 eligible participating providers from Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire, Reliant was one of only 29 to be recognized as “With Distinction,” meaning the organization has exceeded the national 90th percentile on all domains used in the evaluation. Locally, only one other provider in Worcester County was named to the Honor Roll, with only Reliant having received the additional distinction.

The Harvard Pilgrim Honor Roll highlights adult and pediatric physician groups that have achieved exceptional results in their approach to disease prevention and the treatment of acute and chronic illness.

“We’re proud to be recognized among the best providers not only in Central Massachusetts, but throughout New England,” said Dr. Robin Richman, Reliant Medical Group’s executive vice president of medical affairs/chief medical officer. “Every member of our staff puts a tremendous amount of effort into ensuring our patients are well taken care of, and to receive this award, especially with distinction, is a reflection of that dedication.”

Harvard Pilgrim selected the Honor Roll physician groups based on clinical performance measured against national standards set by HEDIS® (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set), a tool developed for the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) to assess the clinical performance of doctors and other medical professionals.  Harvard Pilgrim reviewed performance in three domains of clinical care affecting both adult and pediatric patients:  acute, chronic and preventive care.  Physician groups were identified as Honor Roll practices based on points earned for performance on 16 measures such as appropriate treatment for children with upper respiratory infection, comprehensive diabetes care and breast cancer screenings.

“At Harvard Pilgrim, we believe that amazing things happen when we work together,” said Eric H. Schultz, Harvard Pilgrim’s president and chief executive officer.  “It is a pleasure to recognize Reliant Medical Group for their progress in providing health care that is high quality and also more affordable for our members.”

Honor roll practice providers are noted in Harvard Pilgrim’s printed and online provider directories, enabling members to evaluate and select physicians based on quality measures.  Twenty-nine practices making the Honor Roll achieved the respected “With Distinction” status, meaning they have the exceeded the national 90th percentile on all domains used in the evaluation.
