New Atrius Health Board Appointees Strengthen Organization for Future
December 6, 2011 – Atrius Health, an alliance of six community-based medical groups serving nearly one million patients throughout Massachusetts, is pleased to announce that Robert Yood, MD, and Mark Stoker, MD, both representing Reliant Medical Group, have been appointed to the Atrius Health Board of Trustees. Reliant Medical Group joined Atrius Health as its sixth affiliate medical group on October 1, 2011.
“The Board of Trustees is delighted to welcome Dr. Robert Yood and Dr. Mark Stoker as members,” said Dr. Ed Nalband, Chairman of the Atrius Health Board of Trustees. “They add important expertise to our board and Atrius Health as we continue to deliver high quality patient-centered care and effectively manage costs.”
In addition to being Chief of Rheumatology at Reliant Medical Group, Dr. Yood is the Medical Director of the Research Department and has authored or coauthored more than 60 published research studies. He also is Chief of the Division of Rheumatic Disease and Musculoskeletal Medicine at Saint Vincent Hospital and Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Yood joined Reliant Medical Group’s Board of Trustees in 1984 and was elected its Chairman in 2009. In 2003, he was the recipient of the Paulding Phelps Award, a prestigious award given by the American College of Rheumatology in recognition of outstanding service on behalf of clinical rheumatologists. Dr. Yood is a graduate of Yale University and holds a medical degree from Oregon Health and Science University.
Dr. Yood is a resident of Worcester, Mass.
In 1997, Dr. Stoker became Division Chief of General and Vascular Surgery at Reliant Medical Group. In 2006, he was appointed Chair of Surgical Specialties. Currently, as the Director of the Surgical Residency Program at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at UMass Medical School, Dr. Stoker enjoys sharing his vast knowledge of laparoscopic surgery and minimally invasive techniques. During August of 2011, he accompanied a team of Reliant Medical Group volunteers on a medical mission to Guatemala, where he performed surgery on behalf of Surgicorps International. A native of Louisiana, Dr. Stoker received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine and completed his surgical training at Boston University Medical Center.
Dr. Stoker is a resident of Holden, Mass.
